Pete Empie Jr. – Director of Engineering
What’s your role at LSC, and what does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day for me includes drawing up maps for clients, managing utility locate requests (811 systems), and helping price out customer bids. It’s a dynamic role with a direct impact on our success in the field.
What’s the most interesting part of your job?
I enjoy designing new routes for customers, which drives new revenue for the company and moves us forward.
What’s your favorite activity that fiber supports (i.e., streaming video/music, videoconferencing, gaming)?
I’m a big fan of videogaming with friends, and also streaming movies and watching TV shows with my family.
What was your first job, and what did you learn from it?
My first job was working nights unloading semis at FedEx. I learned that teamwork can make all the difference. With a good group of co-workers, you can work through any problems you encounter. I also learned the importance of lending a hand when you can. It can make a major difference when everyone chips in.
What’s a piece of advice that you swear by?
Not all who wander are lost.
